‍Effective Date: February 20, 2026

1. Introduction

Check the Price (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Service”) is operated by Capisoft. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our browser extension, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our Service.

‍

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Email address, first name, last name, phone number, and profile picture when you create an account.

  • Authentication Data: We collect your authentication provider (Google or email/password) and associated identifiers through Firebase Authentication.

  • User Preferences: Your selected country, currency, theme, sorting preferences, and product comparison settings.

  • Referral Information: If you join through a referral or refer other users, we track these relationships.

‍

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Product Page Data: When you initiate a price check, we collect the URL and HTML content of the product page you are viewing. This is used to extract product information such as name, price, currency, images, and barcodes (GTIN/EAN/UPC).

  • Device and Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and request metadata.

  • Geolocation Data: We derive approximate location (country level) from your IP address, URL locale, and HTML language attributes to provide region-relevant price comparisons.

  • Usage Data: Timestamps of account creation, price checks performed, processing times, and interaction patterns with the Service.

‍

2.3 Information Generated by the Service

  • Competitor Product Data: Product names, prices, currencies, images, retailer names, URLs, and match scores for alternative products found through our search process.

  • AI-Generated Data: Machine learning embeddings (numerical vector representations) derived from product images and names, used to improve product matching accuracy.

  • Currency Conversions: Converted price data across supported currencies.

‍

2.4 Information from Third Parties

  • Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and email verification status from Google via Firebase Authentication.

‍

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service – Process price check requests, find competitor products, compare prices, and display results.

  • Authenticate Users – Verify your identity and manage your account through Firebase Authentication.

  • Personalize Your Experience – Apply your preferred country, currency, theme, sorting, and filtering settings to search results.

  • Improve Product Matching – Use AI and machine learning models (including Amazon Titan Embeddings and Anthropic Claude) to extract product information and generate embeddings that improve the accuracy of product comparisons.

  • Prevent Abuse – Enforce rate limits and daily usage quotas to maintain service quality.

  • Deduplicate Requests – Cache and reuse recent search results to reduce redundant processing and improve response times.

  • Analyze and Improve – Generate aggregate statistics to understand usage patterns and improve the Service.

  • Communicate with You – Send service-related notifications, respond to inquiries, and provide support.

‍

  • SerpAPI – Used as a fallback provider for product search functionality. This may include product names, product images, and search queries.

  • Firecrawl – Used for web scraping and price verification of competitor product pages. This may include competitor product URLs.
